I. Forum Introduction

Focusing on the objective of “Double World-Class” university construction, 2018 1^st Donglu Youth Scholar Forum & Job Fair of Yunnan University will be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China during June 8-11, 2018. Yunnan University aims to provide a platform that will enhance collaboration and academic communication in various fields for outstanding youth scholars at home and abroad. Using Keynote seminars, discussion panels, talent fairs, etc., this forum invites outstanding domestic and overseas youth scholars to discuss high-level international academic research. This forum provides a direct approach for youth scholars to enter, understand, and join Yunnan University.

II. Qualifications

Delegates should under the age of 40, and meet one of the following conditions:

1. Domestic or overseas excellent Youth Talents  who have acquired a Doctoral Degree from a well-known university either at home or abroad, and have received achievements in related fields.

2. Winner of "Thousand Youth Talents Plan", "Distinguished Youth of Yangtze River", Candidates for "Outstanding Young Talents", "Outstanding Youth", or excellent Young Scholars with high-level.

3. Young talents who have intention to apply for "2018 Thousand Youth Talents Plan" through Yunnan University and meet the qualifications of "Thousand Youth Talents Plan" by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

4. Young talents who have intention to work at Yunnan University or do research at our Mobile Post-doctoral Research Center.

IV. Registration

1. Please submit the "2018 Yunnan University Youth Scholar Forum Application Form"(Attachment) and the supporting materials of your academic achievements Attachment 2). Send your application in a compressed file to the e-mail of the contact person of Division of Personnel (Details attached) - rsc@ynu.edu.cn. The attachment and the e-mail's title should be named with "Applicant's Name + Contacted School + Youth Scholar Forum". For example, "Zhang San + School of Economics + Youth Scholar Forum".

2. Deadline: Register before 10^th May, 2018.

The university will send you an invitation letter after receiving your application form.

V. Fees

Yunnan University will cover four days’ hotel accommodations, local transportation and meals for all delegates from 8^th June to 11^th June, 2018, and will also reimburse you for round trip ticket fees. (Reimburse according to your actual spending fees, overseas delegates no more than 20,000 RMB per person, domestics delegates no more than 5,000 RMB per person).

VI. Talent Treatment and Provisions

1. National Supporting:

Candidate for Youth program of "Thousand Talent Program":

Scientific Research Funds: 1 Million to 3 Million RMB yuan, One-time Subsidy of 0.5 Million RMB yuan.

Candidate for Young top-notch talent of “Ten Thousand Talent Program”:

Scientific Research Funds in the fields of natural science: 1.2 Million to 2.4 Million RMB yuan;

Scientific Research Funds in the fields of Philosophical Social Science and Cultural Art: 0.3 Million to 0.6 Million RMB yuan;

Winner of “Outstanding Youth Science Foundation” of “National Natural Science Foundation(NCFS)”: 

Scientific Research Funds: 1.5 Million RMB yuan;

Candidate for Young Scholar Program of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”:

Annual allowance of 100,000 RMB yuan during employment term.

2. Local Supporting:

Selected into "High-level Talents Thousand Plan" of Yunnan Province, Project Supporting Funds of high-level Talents is up to 5 Million RMB yuan for an individual, up to 30 Million RMB yuan for a group. Meanwhile will be subsidized according to the National Government’s Subsidy Standard.

3. University Supporting:

According to " Talents Introduction Implementation Measures of Yunnan University ", we will provide high-level talents with:

1) One-time Housing subsidy: 2 Million RMB yuan;

2) Annual Salary: no less than 0.6 Million RMB yuan;

3) Scientific Research Funds: Agreed upon the characteristics of disciplines and research plans,

Experimental Science or Engineering: no less than 8 Million RMB yuan;  Non-experimental Science or Humanities & Social Science: no less than 2 Million  RMB yuan.

4) Spouse who is eligible for the transferring requirements could be transferred and arranged to work at Yunnan University;

5) Children could be provided with high-quality educational resources from kindergarten to high school.

A Brief Introduction to Yunnan University

With a long tradition of culture and history, Yunnan University, founded in 1922, is an elite school with a history of nearly 100 years. It is located in Kunming, China, where the weather is spring-like at all seasons and the landscape is charming. In 1946, Yunnan University was listed by the Concise Encyclopedia Britannica as one of the world’s 15 most influential universities in China. In 2017, Yunnan University has become one of the first 42 universities in China that aims at developing into a world-class university as well as one of the famous universities in China with international influence.

Yunnan University covers an area of 300 hectares and has a collection of more than 3,600,000 books in the library; it is home to 2956 faculty members, 16,730 full-time undergraduates, 11,931 full-time graduates working on master’s degree or doctor’s degree , and 1,209 international students. According to the Essential Science Indicators, microbiology, chemistry, phytology, and zoology at Yunnan University are among the top one percent of the world’s academic disciplines. Currently, Yunnan University has 2 “Class A” disciplines including ethnology and ecology and 14 “Class B” disciplines including politics, biology, theoretical economics, chemistry, Chinese history, statistics, mathematics, law, business administration, library & information science and archives administration, Chinese language and literature, Marxist theory, computer science and technology, and software engineering. It’s 21 primary disciplines offer PhDs, 14 centers offer post-doctoral studies, 42 primary disciplines offer master’s degrees, and 22 disciplines offer professional master’s degrees. In recent years, Yunnan University has been awarded several national prizes, including first prize for National Natural Science Award, first prize for National Higher Institutional Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement and second prize for National Science and Technology Progress, etc. 10 papers written by the university professors have been published on world’s famous academic publications like Nature and Science. It has independently presided over 2 projects of the 973 Plan, 4 of the 863 Plan, 2 of the National Water Pollution Control and Treatment Science and Technology Major Project, 1 of the National Key R&D Plan, 2 of the National Science-technology Support Plan Projects, and more than 10 major bidding projects of the National Social Science Foundation and important MoE’s humanities and social sciences developing projects. It also has more than 20 national research centers including national key lab, international joint lab, national bases for talent cultivation, national experiment teaching model centers, national training programs for excellent engineers, national educational training center for excellent practical and inter-disciplinary legal professionals, national innovation experiment areas for talent cultivation model, national key research base for humanities and social sciences, national educational base for cultural quality of college students, and research center for national scientific decision-making consultation as well as more than 30 provincial bases and labs like key labs jointly developed by Ministry of Education and Yunnan Province.
